Why see a travel doctor before you go

Travel health advice is destination-specific and time-sensitive. Some vaccines take weeks to become effective, some need a course of doses, and requirements shift with outbreaks and border rules. Booking as soon as you have an itinerary leaves room to complete whatever your trip needs.

What a consultation covers

  • A risk assessment based on your itinerary, health history and how you will be travelling
  • Yellow fever vaccination and the International Certificate of Vaccination
  • The common travel vaccines: hepatitis A and B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis
  • Malaria prevention advice and prescriptions where your destination calls for them
  • Practical guidance on food and water safety, insect bite avoidance and altitude
  • Post-travel review if you return unwell

Part of the Travel Medicine Alliance

Chatswood Travel Doctor is a member of the Travel Medicine Alliance, a national network of independent travel medicine clinics. Members receive regular updates on outbreaks, vaccine availability and changing entry requirements, so the advice you get reflects current conditions rather than a general guide.
